Hey guys,

Teen Tech Camp 2010 went very well here in Memphis. I haven't posted any projects though. Fortunately/ Unfortunately our wireless network went to an Aruba based system and I didn't have the foresight to update the drivers on our computers. :) Lesson learned.

The great news is that now we have some funds for wireless mice and drawing tablets. We've purchased the Bamboo tablets by Wacom. The mice are plug and play, but I am having some difficulty with the tablets. I didn't find and available driver through Ubuntu 10.04. I went online to consult the Ubuntu forums, but I am having some difficulty decoding their instructions. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wacom

How did you install your tablets? Are you running Ubuntu 10.04?
Thanks!
-Hillary

OMG! After trolling the internet in search of a solution for what seems like a week, and trying every suggestion out there, three lines of code was all it took!

In terminal type:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa: doctormo/wacom-plus
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install wacom-dkms

Supposedly this was written as a way to always update the kernel which was the error message I kept receiving with all the other code! Awesome! Thank you Frank Groeneveld!

Argh! I think it's because we had to order the new release Bamboo drawing tablets (CTL 460). There seems to be no support for those in Ubuntu 10.04. I tried plug 'n play, tried directions to install/build a driver. I even tried updating one laptop to Ubuntu 10.10, hoping it would then be plug 'n play...still no luck.

Are you using a standard, basic install of Ubuntu? I tested our Bambu pads on 4 different Free Geek machines that have just the normal basic install of 10.04, and they were completely plug-and-play. Did you install some weird mouse drivers or something? (sorry for the delayed response, I emailed you but it bounced.)

Wow, great news!!! I'll drop Cynthia a note about the bamboo/ubuntu. Hope all is well!
